What Can You Do to Help Save the Tropical
Rainforest?
Our tropical rainforests are very important biomes to mankind and preserving tropical rainforests them involves more than just deciding not to cut trees. Social, political and economic factors all need to be taken into consideration. The following are some suggestions about how you can contribute to the solution.
The points above have been made aware to many people and some have been put into action, which is great. And there are some other ways which have been put into action that may be from the government or other people in our society.
Our tropical rainforests are very important biomes to mankind and preserving tropical rainforests them involves more than just deciding not to cut trees. Social, political and economic factors all need to be taken into consideration. The following are some suggestions about how you can contribute to the solution.
- Learn
more! Leaning more about tropical rainforests and the plants, animals and even
people, which live there is vital. Investigate the complex issues surrounding
deforestation and possible solutions through further reading.
- Express
your concern. Write letters to your congressional representatives or your local
paper to express concern about the destruction of the tropical rainforests. The
more you know about the topic and issues, the more specific you can be in
suggesting actions you would like your elected officials to take.
- Recycling
aluminium cans reduces the need for bauxite, which must be mined from the
ground in tropical countries. Bauxite is the source of aluminium.
- Managing
deforestation! Our population is growing so it is almost impossible to leave
our tropical rainforests untouched because we simply do need the space. But
they can me managed carefully so that we are not removing more of the rainforest
than we need to. Companies that harvest timber should not be allowed to
"clear cut" large areas of forest and should be required to plant new
trees after they cut old trees down. Governments should create large
parks and reserves where hunting and logging are not allowed.
The points above have been made aware to many people and some have been put into action, which is great. And there are some other ways which have been put into action that may be from the government or other people in our society.
- Ecotourism
is when people are taken tours of tropical rainforests to show people what they
are destroying it is also expanding peoples knowledge on the beautiful biome so
that they can educate other people on how important it is to keep them on
earth.
- Some worldwide companies have stated publicly
that they won't buy products that come from recently cleared areas of tropical
rainforests, for example beef. Beef from the rainforests often comes from areas
where forests have been destroyed.
- Recycling
is another conservation effort that has been put into place from the government
for a while now and it has been successful. Recycling our cans, which are made
from aluminium prevent the amount of bauxite used from tropical rainforests.
